Dissecting the benefits of Short Term Trading

There has been a lot of talk about short term trading vs. long term trading. One is better than the other or the latter is more profitable than the first one. On and on, forex traders argue over the benefits of these two. Perhaps, the argument will likely continue as time passes by.

Short term trading was once described as trading in and out of a financial instrument more than once in a year.  Today however the definition is more applicable to intraday trading where one is trading in and out of positions throughout the day.

“In the forex trading business, many people naturally prefer to enter and exit trades in a relatively shorter period of time especially in less than one day or within the period of time where you sit down to focus on trading,” said Trading Mastermind founder and forex trader Scott Shubert.

In his upcoming trading course, Mr. Shubert points out that a professional trader should be able to trade on all time frames. And though it is undeniable that he is a true advocate of trading on longer term time frames still Mr. Shubert does not underestimate the benefits short term trading gives out.

“The benefit that many people love about short term trading is that you can put cash into your account nearly every trading day. On the longer time frames, we need to focus primarily on weekly and monthly goals. But on short time frames, you can look for realistic entry and exit goals for you to have profitable trades and have substantial number of PIPS in every trade,” said the forex trading mentor.

So if a trader gets confused over trading on long or short term time frames, what should the trader do? “The key is to balance trading on all time frames, long and short,” Scott said. He also adds, “This is exactly what we  are currently achieving with our trading method.”

Now, isn’t that exciting? One would not have to fuss over just trading short term or the long term. All these and more in the surprise that Mr. Shubert is keeping under wraps. Watch out for that.

It seems that the real attraction to shorter term Forex trades is that, one can make almost the exact same profits on a shorter term trade as a longer term trade, provided the position size is based on the initial risk, and the risk/reward and win/loss ratios stay the same. The real question is implementation, and maintaining sanity and lifestyle.
